林村許願樹 The Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree

Earlier Pauline and I went to a popular shrine in Hong Kong, The Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree!! Commonly be seen in screen that people would throw oranges and let it hang up on the tree for making successful wish.  Making it an interesting place to go during a nice causal weekend travel!

The Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree

As you can see, the tree had no oranges hanging on it non paper notes with people wishes on it.  In fact, a plenty of supports is now placed to help to support the weak weak tree!  The reason for this is that the practice of throwing stuff and hang on the tree, the burning of chinese inscent around the tree roots had been slowing killing the tree!!

So nowadays, people are trying to save the tree and were suggested people to hang the wishing notes on these boards

Direction to “The Lam Tsuen Wishing Tree” (林村許願樹):

From Kowloon, head towards Tai Po via Tolo Highway, left on Lam Kam Road (Hong Lok Yuen exit), turn left and get in to Lam Kam Road, go staight for about 5 mins and it should be on the right side of the road :)

PS. Its a common practice for some Hong Konger to go pray during the Chinese New Year!
